Afternoon Tea at The Savoy, A Perfect Plant-Based Celebration
We recently enjoyed the Plant-Based Afternoon Tea at The Savoy to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was nothing short of wonderful from start to finish.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the concierge who instantly made our experience feel special. Our servers, Naomi and Josephine, were absolutely lovey and as soon as we arrived they presented us with a small jug of oat milk ready for our teas, attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. They guided us through the different teas, expertly suggesting pairings for each course and explained in detail the ingredients and skill that went into every creation.
It was interesting to see that the plant based desserts looked the same as the non plant based versions as sometimes the vegan options can look some what different.
The Plant-Based Afternoon Tea Menu included:
Savouries
- Avocado, edamame and wasabi sandwich
- Roasted aubergine with tomato and basil on soft white bread
- Carrot and coriander hummus with pickled heritage carrots
- Cucumber and mint sandwich
- Truffle cauliflower vol-au-vent
Scones
- Traditional and raisin scones
- served warm with plant-based clotted cream and strawberry preserve
Pastries
- Raspberry and coconut choux
- Chocolate and hazelnut delice
- Lemon and blueberry tart
- Pistachio and cherry slice
The plant-based menu was a delight. Every piece was beautifully presented and full of flavour, from the delicate savouries to the freshly baked scones served with plant-based clotted cream and jam and the elegant pastries that were almost too pretty to eat. You could truly taste the care and creativity that had gone into crafting each bite.
To make the day even more memorable, the Savoy surprised us with a complimentary vegan chocolate cake served on a plate that was decorated with “Happy Anniversary” written elegantly in chocolate. It was such a thoughtful touch…..and delicious too!
The surroundings, the service and the quality of the food made it a truly memorable experience.
The Savoy remains one of London’s finest destinations for afternoon tea and it is wonderful to see such attention given to plant-based dining.
We left feeling thoroughly spoiled and full of gratitude. (and with extra sandwiches) because at the Savoy you can order more sandwiches if you are still feeling peckish.
Thank you to the Savoy, the chefs, pianist, waiters and waitresses for making our anniversary celebration so special.....We will be back.
