The taste panel here at VeggieVision TV which included adults and kids alike were all impressed by the taste, texture and versatility of the Vegetarian Butchers range. The adults loved experimenting with various recipes and the kids suddenly developed a craving for seconds.. which of course they got once they had eaten their greens.

We remember meeting the team at their press launch at tibits in London a few years back. National media tested out the range including journalists from The Sun, The Metro and various womens magazines. They loved the range – although for some it is rather too realistic!

The Vegetarian Butcher  whose new hyper-realistic meat mimickers will delight consumers with a wide range of delicious products to suit all palettes.

The Vegetarian Butcher aims to become the largest butcher in the world with plant-based proteins, which compete with animal meat in respect of taste, texture, perception, and nutritional value. Founder Jaap Korteweg twice received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award and finished in the top five of Dutch newspaper Trouw’s Sustainable 100 ranking for the past three years.

Created by meat lovers for meat lovers, the innovative range features tongue-in-cheek vegan and vegetarian products such as Little Peckers, What the Cluck , Chickened Out Burger and Good Karma Shawarma.

Founded in 2010, The Vegetarian Butcher has amassed a cult following in its home country of the Netherlands, and has been heralded by industry figures. Notably it fooled a panel of 3-Michelin star chefs, including Ferran Adrià from the world-famous El Bulli restaurant in in Spain, who was convinced he was eating “high-quality chicken thighs” from the south of France.

With prices starting at £2.29 the new chilled range of The Vegetarian Butcher products are available in Tesco and Waitrose stores and also on Ocado.
