Redemption has launched its third, flagship London site in the cool Seven Dials district, close to Covent Garden. The double-sided bar and restaurant is located across 15 Short’s Gardens and 2 Neal’s Yard.

The menu, like that of the other sites in Notting Hill and Shoreditch, offers wholefood vegan gluten-free dishes that are low in natural unrefined sugars, created by co-founder and executive chef, Andrea Waters. The 45-cover restaurant is open for lunch and dinner with a different offering for both.  Additionally, the new flagship site showcases an elegant take-away section, offering a stunning array of nutritious dishes where guests can build their own Buddha Bowl from a range of seasonal vegetables, fruit, pulse-based salads, nuts, seeds and homemade dips.   Innovative new functional foods also feature on the menu, such as charcoal powder, pine pollen and medicinal mushrooms.

We loved the decor, the atmosphere and needless to say the food was incredible.

We chatted with former Brand Director of Virgin, Catherine Salway when we visited and fell in love with her passion and drive. What an inspiration!

We were also delighted to see Catherine again with her equally as fabulous business partner New Zealand Restaurateur and Raw Vegan Chef, Andrea Waters at this years VegfestUK Brighton where they both had a well earned little break from their booming business!

So Tim Barford and I had a great time visiting Redemption and there are plans already from us both to go back. We had to try the Key Lime Pie and Banoffee Pie … as a starter…  it just had to be done…. “After 35 years of eating vegan cheesecakes this has to be the best one ever….”

                                                                                      key lime cheesecake £6.95 ®

coconut and almond crust with avocado, lime and cashew cream with whipped crème Chantilly

banoffee pie £6.95

a chewy oaty biscuit base with a sticky medjool date salted caramel, banana and coconut yoghurt cream

These were followed by 2 brunch dishes – that were as equally as fantastic as our starter/ dessert!

chunky guacamole, tomato & lime £7.50

avocado, spring onion, coriander, chilli, lime, and cherry vine tomatoes with micro greens

creamy medicinal mushroom  £8.95

shitake, chestnut, nameko and golden needle mushrooms in an oat cream garlic and parsley sauce

As well as Redemption’s delightful food offering, the world’s first alcohol-free cocktail bar offers a wide range of booze-less cocktails including: the pious pina colada; lychee and yuzu martini; frozen pineapple margarita and the Redemption RoyaleThere is also kombucha on tap and a selection of alcohol-free beers, wines and spirits.

Redemption launched at a time when the plant-based food trend was in its infancy in the London restaurant scene. Fast-forward from its first pop up in 2014 to now, and there has been a huge shift in the appetite of diners towards plant-based menus:  a reported 360% increase in people eating a plant-based diet over the past 10 years.

As well as the launch of this third flagship site, Redemption is also celebrating publishing its first book:  Redemption Bar Cocktails With Benefits; which is available in all major retailers.

VeggieVision TVs verdict…. “This has to be one of the best meals we have ever had. Fresh, inspiring and ethical. Can not wait to go back.”
