After years of frustration being fed up with self made tofu presses – using tins, heavy books and kitchen roll – Adam and Susanna Kittow set about designing their own easy to use tofu press to squeeze out the excess water of their favourite and versatile food – high in protein and low in fat tofu.

Made in the same way as we make cheese tofu can be marinated, used in sweet or savoury dishes and is perfect for meat eaters and non meat eaters alike. However, it tastes much better when the water is squeezed out.

“There are two main types of tofu – block tofu which is stored in water, has a firmer texture and can be found in the chilled section of most supermarkets; and silken tofu which is softer and can be found in the chilled or grocery departments.

Both types are stored in water and the key is to press this water out. Tofu has been a staple food in East Asia for more than 2000 years and its popularity is growing in the West as the health and ethical benefits of a plant base diet become more mainstream.”
