I am just in love with Lifehouse Spa just off of the A12 on the way to Colchester in Essex. I spent a relaxing day out with my mum and sister recently and can’t wait to go back!
And I am delighted to say that their vegan offerings are very impressive.

When we visited the restaurant for lunch the manager had noted down everything that was vegan friendly at the eat as much as you would like buffet and informed us that he could make us other options too. The food was delicious “clean food” and even includes “vegan chocolate cake” on the menu which was super (a few hours after the eat as much as you can buffet!)
They cater for vegans well and offer interesting salads, spiralised courgette & carrot dishes, spaghetti made from edadame beans, vegan desserts using coconut oil instead of butter and coconut milk instead of dairy.  Their breakfast buffet includes Bircher muesli which is made with coconut milk. All of their daily soups are free from wheat or dairy. And they have confirmed that their afternoon teas can easily adapted to gluten free and they are in the process of making these dairy free also. 14247798_10154400783712394_1577735259_oWatch this space!
Sue Davis Resident Naturopath told us more;
“I run our Wellness programmes and in our detox break as an example we feature an avocado dark chocolate mousse made with coconut milk. The detox night cap is made with coconut and almond milk with raw cacao.
The flaxseed crispbreads in the detox salad are wheat and dairy free alongside spiralised beetroot, apple, leaves, dairy free pesto, hummous and roasted garlic.
All wellness guests receive lemon and warm water every morning at their door at 7.00am and all classes are complimentary for wellness guests. I have attached our wellness and detox brochures fro your reference.
If we have a vegan guest with a specific request our chefs will do their best to accommodate – preferably with advance notice.
In terms of spa product houses we have the organic Cornish based brand Spezia – you can eat the scrub! And Ishga which is a pure organic seaweed brand from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides“.
The swimming pool area is lovely and has never been too crowded, the massage was one of the best I have had and a wonderful start to a relaxing day.
Spa days are from just £49 – www.lifehouse.co.uk
